Crown Legal Report publishes general information about United States law. It is not legal advice and cannot be used as a substitute for it. Reading this site, writing to us, or acting on something you read here creates no attorney-client relationship with anyone. We are a publication, not a law firm, and no one here is acting as your lawyer.

Accuracy and currency

Law changes, differs by state, and turns on facts a general article cannot know. We build every report from primary sources and correct errors when we find them, but we do not warrant that a report is complete, current, or applicable to your situation. Before acting, check the sources listed at the foot of the report, or consult a lawyer licensed where you are.

Deadlines deserve a specific warning. Where a report states a filing period, an appeal window or a notice requirement, treat it as a prompt to verify the deadline in your own jurisdiction — not as a guarantee of how long you have.

Using the content

You may read, print and share links to anything here. You may quote a report with attribution and a link back. You may not republish a whole report, sell it, or present it as your own. Photographs are licensed separately from the text; each one's license and source is recorded on the image credits page, and reuse must follow that license, not these terms.

External links

Reports link to government pages, court decisions and other sites for verification. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. A link is not an endorsement.

The site is provided as it is. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, and we may add, revise or withdraw material at any time. To the extent the law allows, we exclude liability for loss arising from use of this site.
